    Hi,

I tried something a little different (for me at least) with this shot. I'm pleased with the results, let me know what you think.

    All suggestions and comments welcome.

I think you got the flowing water spot on. Really smooth and great texture to it. I think it might be a little bit too blue though (maybe white balance was off a bit?).
The rocks on the left are a little distracting too, they just don't suit the rest of the image.

Yeah I dropped the while balance down lower than it should have been, I was trying to give more character to the water.

Might need to work on the rocks a bit more alright.

As said above, the white balance is very cool and could maybe do with a CW rotation to balance it a bit...

    cheers,

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions, looking at it again today I can see I overdone the white balance way too much.

I've reworked this shot, let me know if there's any improvement?

I think this caught my eye on flickr in the last couple days actually...

It's still pretty blue (even taking my bluey toned laptop screen into consideration) but I like it, gives the impression of moonlight almost. There be elves round there somewhere, I'm sure!

Small technical snag, would be the glow around the lower rock on the left. One of those things I noticed once and now it always jumps out at me.

Two areas really interest me - one is the bit in the lower right corner with the rock face and bit of green with the water swishing over it, and the other is the streams of water coming over the ridge. I'm not sure if they get their due attention in the frame, because of the stick sticking out (no pun intended, honest) and the sheer weight of that big rock in the upper left corner. Although, you could use that as an element of the picture but then the lower rock is just too annoying and jutting inny.

What do you think about the composition? How do you feel about the two rocks on the left, and the sloping bit at the top, and the sticky inny stick? Is there something that drew you attention in particular that made you frame it like that?

The composition is really to capture the flows of the water in different directions and the rocks are more incidential. I agree that they impose a lot on the shot, I'll look at cropping a little to make them less imposing to see how it looks. Thanks for your views :)

A tighter crop does work better, thanks Julie :)

Thats very nice.. the little drop coming off the twig is a nice touch too...

Ah now you've got a nice little thing going on with the bit in the lower right and in the upper left, playing off each other, and that diagonal then ties in to all the lovely water lines and the stick, too. There's also something funky about a big heavy rock being at the top of the frame... messing with gravity!
