Cineworld and The Breakfast Club

Was checking listings for Thursday the 31st a week or so ago and saw that they were showing The Breakfast Club on the Thursday (and Wednesday) and nearly shouted with joy, love that film.

Re-checking now, they've removed it and any and all phone numbers where i can confirm this removal on the website either lead to an unhelpful automated response, a wrong number or a phone number that doesn't exist (Golden Pages was no help).

    Can anyone help?

Why do you want to ring them? If its off the site, then they are not showing it

Plus you can buy that great movie on DVD for next to nothing

Maybe so but the joy of seeing one of your favourite films of all time on the big screen is unrivalled. I've been converted to seeing favourites on the big screen with an audience and it really adds another dimension to it watching it with so many people who all love it.

Looks like someone at Cineworld made a bit of a cock-up. The Breakfast Club was shown on Monday (two days ago), as they always show a classic film on the last Monday of the month (see this thread here). Sorry bout that Rhyme, but they only show the classic films for one day.

Curses, had my heart set on seeing it tomorrow evening. Thanks for your help Stargal, i'll be sure to check that classic movies in Cineworld thread more often.

Yeah I don't understand why Cineworld are doing so little to promote the Classic Films thing. It's a great idea but the only way to find out about it is to check the timetable for the last week of each month. Anyway, sorry you missed The Breakfast Club, that would have been pretty cool to see on the big screen.

I was at in on monday. I hate UGC/Cineworld/WhateverItsCalledThisMonth with a passion but I booked tickets in advance for this one to make sure I didn't miss out.

Anyway it was great to see TBC up on the big screen finally. The print was a little crappy with several splices in it but it didn't matter a jot. It even got a round of applause at the end. That was the firrst time I've ever seen that for a rerelease.

Actually on the subject. Could we have a sticky thread for retro movies that are getting cinema screenings round the country? As they are usually only one-day events it'd be cool for people to get a heads up in time. Case in point this thread.

Well there's already a thread about the old-school films in Cineworld here. Are there other cinemas around the country that also show them?

And that's cool that people applauded at the end of The Breakfast Club; same thing happened when I was at Back to the Future a few months ago and it's the only time I can remember that happening at the cinema.

Yes, I was thinking of the IFI in particular as I am a Dub. It's doing a Sidney Lumet season in February that I reckon a lot of people might be interested in checking out (Dog Day Afternoon and 12 Angry Men for example).

Likewise I guess there's prob other cinemas around the country showing old movies too?

IFI regularly have seasons on (Coen Brothers at the moment) but are rarely publicised unless on goes on the net / gets the timetable themselves. It is a shame there are not more cinemas showing classics regularly though - saw Fanny & Alexander on the big screen a while ago and it really is the way to watch it. Would love to see something like 2001 or Ran on a projector.

Went to see the Goonies in IMC at Halloween though and they only upscaled the DVD :( All about the original prints!
