Hi, just wondering is it remotely possible to setup a Freeview box in Wexford to receive signals from Wales.

Just wondering as its possible to receive the analogue signals with a bit of gear on the roof.

You might need to upgrade the aerials.

After analogue shut down it will be easier as then they will increase the power.

Have you considered FTA Satellite? Similar selection with a few missing and a few extra.

It really depends on your location in Wexford. Town coverage would be patchy unless you're on higher ground up around Belvedere Grove/Kennedy Park. Forth Mountain/on the upper part of the Duncannon line could receive signal also. Rosslare Harbour should receive some sort of signal. New aerial and screened high quality co-ax cable is very important.

One of the Mux has already been knocked out because of the test transmissions from Mt. Leinster. Expect to lose more services should/when Irish DTT starts.

The planned DTT frequencies for Preseli *the welsh transmitter* and Mt. Leinster are as follows:

    From Aug/Sep 2009:
    Preseli: 43 46 50 42 45 49

    Whenever full service commences:
    Mt Leinster: 39 42 45 49 29 33

On this basis you might be able to receive the public service channels from the UK but any of the additional services would be unavailable.

Are the Irish frequencies subject to change at all?

    200 channels vs aboug 40.

I'll prob go with that. I'll try to get my hands on an old Sky set and I'll manage somehow to get an FTV card.
