no not nos!a boost bottle is supposed to increase to volume of air/fuel mixture in the bike so it gives snappy throttle response.but i dont no much about them so just inquiring ...

save up for a new 2-stroke imo

I'd imagine any mods you do to your current bike will just greatly reduce it's life, and are rarely worth it in terms of returns of investment

Upgrade to a CR 250! You'll be lucking to reduce the power then! :D

I haven't heard of a 'boost bottle' in about twenty years!.

They were the big thing with the old DT's and even the RD's (LC's not the YPVS).

I don't know if they're still available from anyone these days.

Anyone care to fill me on what a boost bottle is ??

boost bottles only really work on tuned engines, iv got one on my gilera ice. It doesnt increse it that much. Just get a performance exhaust.

A boost bottle is a canister that is the same volume as one cylinder, it is usually attached to the manifold between the carb and the cylinder/crankcase depending on whether the engine is case-reed or not.
the idea is that it smoothes out the power by holding a fuel air charge equivalent to the displacement of one cylinder.
I had a 1982 Yamaha IT 175 that had one but they haven't been fitted on anything other than the Banshee since then, the Banshee is basically the RD/RZ 350 YPVS engine in a quad frame.
I don't think modern 2T bikes with powervalves need them, they are smooth enough.
    Edit:
Tomo I had a look at your bike and it looks like the engine is a chinese copy of an XR engine, this is a 4 stroke and a boostbottle will do nothing for for you.
For more power look for a hot cam or maybe a little higher compression, not sure if they are available for your bike but it could help.

i left it in to a bike shop yesterday !they say the same as you that a boost bottle will do nothing for it . there putting a power pipe on it and remaping the coils.they reckon it will give me a quicker take off ... ?

defo, it will make a good bit of difference to your take off.

cr250, way too boring, get a 500 2 stroke beast instead:D:D:D. Seriously though, you're wasting your time tuning it, a pipe isnt going to make a much a difference with a 4stroke as it would with a 2stroke. What the hell does remapping the coils mean??? I've heard off remapping a ecu (which that bike hardly has).

What height are ya, 2nd hand 85cc mx bikes are cheap enough, and would be way more powerful and fun than that 150, assuming you're not to big 4 it.

Dont touch it and leave well enough alone!. Not many bike mechanics in Dublin would look at Chinese manufactured bikes if they have been messed about with and you may end up giving it away for scrap! If you want something quicker just get a bigger bike

Ok, doesnt matter, an 85cc mx bike is way too small 4 ya anyway. A 125 2stroke (ie cr/yz) would be a rocketship in comparsion to that chinese yoke ya have, but one that isnt a wreck will set ya back at least €1500.

ye i was looking at a cr 85 but ya reckon its 2 small ??ouch 1500 that i dont have but i will get a bit for that this yoke when i sell it probely round 600 !
