    Hey all,

Am considering moving to Rathmines, Rathgar or Terenure with the intention of starting a new job in Airton Road, Tallaght in a week or so. Is the commute (going against the traffic I hope) relatively painless? I'm not a native Dub but lived in the city centre for a few years and so am not completely clueless - would the easiest route to and from Airton Road be via the N81 for the most part? Thanks for any help :)

The 65B will take you directly in the mornings from Rathmines, Rathgar or Terenure to Airton Road.

Departures via Airton Road from city are 0655, 0720, 0735 and 0810. These get to Airton Road at appx 0730, 0800, 0820 and 0900.

The return journey requires a walk to Tallaght Village for either the 65/65B back towards the city.

Driving, the fastest and most direct route is via the N81, and then via Greenhills Road.

Try to find somewhere west of Terenure cross roads as it is a complete pain. Balance that with taxis home after nights out, etc.

In the mornings between 7:30-9:00, the N81 from Rathfarnham Village to the M50 is always very very quiet, and the same in reverse in the evening. Terenure village will always be a PITA, so if you can find somewhere west of it like Victor says, you're sorted.

If not, you'd be as well off getting on to the Kimmage Road West through the terenure/rathmines side roads and braving walkinstown roundabout+greenhills road. Although you can get onto the greenhilles road near where woodies used to be cant you?

Did this commute several times. Terenure X westbound in the AM is empty. The problem is from Templeogue Bridge->M50 as it jams solid with everyone trying to get on M50 both North and South, and to get to Tallaght. There is a bus lane for most of this so you shouldn't have too many problems.

I go past the spawell roundabout every day, only time westbound on Tallaght road heading to M50 is busy in the mornings is when its absolutely pissing. rest of the time it's pretty much a ghost road.

I travel this route daily by bus, and as said above, it's really only the 0810 that encounters traffic after Templeogue Bridge as far as Balrothery.

The 0655 and 0720 buses are the most reliable ones in the morning.
