I'm aware that it's unusual for a mac to get a virus. I was wondering if it's possible for a macbook pro to get a virus if you're running XP Pro on it using parallel or bootcamp. Also can a macbook pro get spyware if it's running on its own os like leopard or whatever.

Yes, the Windows installation will be able to get a virus/malware. It will not effect the Mac OS installation, but it will still be able to do what it can do while Windows is running.

If its running Bootcamp, no. Not sure how Parallels works, though, but I imagine that it would install Windows to a virtual partition which would be a file on your computer, so again no (AFAIK).

    Cool, just curious. Thanks.

While it's unlikely there is currently a virus/spyware which can corrupt OS X running Windows, that doesn't mean that it's not feasible for a virus/spyware to be created in the future to do such a thing.

So stay protected at all times when using Windows, even on OS X.

i just run vm ware and if it goes wrong ... roll back to a point in time or back to instalation. Also its just a file so no damage ever to the mac
