I'm hoping to attend NUI Galway in '09 as a mature student (Arts, Connect-Creative Writing).

I'm considering Archaeology, but I'd like to get a better sense of the subject to decide if it's one I really want to study.

Are there any titles that students or faculty there would recommend?

The Prehistoric Archaeology of Ireland by John Waddell is one of the core texts in first year or you could try the journal Archaeology Ireland, available in Easons. Once you start you have 3 weeks before you finally have to decide which four subjects you will take in first year so you should have an idea what the course will be like before you register your subjects.
