First Job

Well not so much my first job, but it will be my first job I will have to work to get. Basically looking for a summer job, and looking for some pointers.

    What shops don't employ people under 18 (I'm 17)?
When should I start getting my CV out there?
Should I hand my CV into the shop, or e-mail them it, or both?

Any other pointers of help would be appreciated .

    Thanks
    Gavin

Hand in a CV personally where possible, at least you can establish a good first impression.
Have a one page CV with a professional sounding note at the top instead of a cover letter, at least it'll be easy (and quick) to read and with only one page they can't lose half of it.

(don't do a printing back and front job...you'd be amazed how many people never think of looking at the back even if half the info is missing)

Don't put out your CV too early, it might get lost. I'd say be poised for when they start advertising...or maybe get it out closer to the summer anyway.
Alot of shops will give first preference to people they've hired before, unless they don't want them back, and then look for alternatives.

I think most shops will take you on..afaik!
