I'm finding vodafone reception is poor in a lot of places that i am working

so I want to move my work phone from vodafone "ready to go" to o2 billed,

i have to be very careful though because i have spent a lot of money on advertising and cannot afford to lose it even for a day

can't find a thing about it on the vodafone site, do i just sign up and use the numer i want to keep as the contact number?

Is it a business or personal account?

Are you out of contract with Vodafone?

You generally just need to bring your most recent Vodafone bill with passport or drivers license into an o2 store and let them deal with it, but the above details are important.

Generally your vodafone phone will be active til the port is complete, then it will die and the o2 no is active. Its not failsafe though.

go into an o2 shop or reseller. bring curent photo ID, either a passport or drivers licence and a bill in your name, dated in the past three months. a bank statement is best because it has your bank details on it for direct debit info. you give them your details, including the number you want to keep and they fill in an online form. they give you a new o2 sim card which will have your number on it

go in before 6 o clock and the port will go through that day. after 6 and it'll go through at ten the next morning

when the port starts, it usually takes about 2 hours. your number should be active the entire time but it might stop working briefly while the change over is taking place. then your vodafone sim will stop working and your o2 sim will activate.

but porting is one of those things that can go wrong and take ages to fix. if you absolutely can't be without your number for any length of time, sign up to o2 with a new number

As it's a port the old Voda bill will work as proof of address as long as it is within three months. You do not need a bill or bank statement in this one case. But you MUST produce the voda bill as it's proof you own the no and has your vodafone acc number.

Just to clear things up: you can get a port with just a voda bill and a drivers license/ passport, but without a voda bill you can't.

now you mention it you're right. OP, bring your latest voda bill. if you can't find it, you can print it off the vodafone site

and remember to bring your account number and sort code too

that is an equally good point. OP, don't bring your non-existent vodafone bill

    Oops

    Yay I nearly messed up!

Do make sure your RTG phone with Vodafone is registered in your name correctly though before porting. I have had ports withheld because of that.

I ported from o2 to meteor a year ago. 10 minutes after porting my phone stopped working, I popped in the meteor sim card and was absolutely amazed to find it worked!

I know some one who ported from vodafone to three and waited a week for the port to go through. The vodafone helpdesk blamed three and vice versa!

found an o2 store, gave them my details

while your man was on the pc i got a text thanking me for choosing o2, by the time i go to the car my o2 phone got a text welcoming me to 02

heard that the data tariffs are changing soon, so will keep an eye out for that

    edit... http://www.o2online.ie/wps/wcm/connect/O2/Home/Personal/Price%20plans/Pay%20monthly/Add%20ons

9 times out of 10 it is an issue with the donar network which holds up a port.
Why would a network hold up a port of someone joining their network??
