    Hi Folks,

Flicking thro' the channels as you last Saturday night I came across a wonderful animated French film on BBC4. It was discussed earlier in the evening by Jonathan Ross as part of the World Cinema awards. Anyway, I didn't hear who it was by, or even it's title, but wow what a film:p

It was basically about a French cyclist who was trained for cycle races by some dear old lady, in a small flat/house with a big fat hound that would bark at any passing trains that ran right by the house. In the end the cyclist is kidnapped and taken to New York, where he cycles to the death in front of a moving picture of a road as 'sport' for an underground gambling den. Until, of course he's rescued by the old lady and her new friends!! :D

It's difficult to explain, but it was wonderful animation and I would love to get hold of a copy.

Any ideas who it was by or what it was called?

    Thanks,

    Rich

Ah yes I've missed it yet again! :D

Belleville de rendez Vous I think it must be.

Yep, Belleville it is. An awesome film with an awesome soundtrack. Well worth picking up on DVD, there's some interesting stuff in the extras, including a rather nifty music video of the Belleville triplets with segments reminiscent of The Cabinet Of Dr Caligari...

Ah it is a terrific little film. Remember being bewitched by it on BBC a number of Christmases ago. Due a rewatch anytime now!
