Fear Of People Eating Around You

Say you suffer from feeling ill and nervous if someone starts to eat near you.

    Not eating with people
no eating in coffee shops/fast food
Feeling good but if someone starts to eat near you panic, wanting to vomit
Making any excuse not to eat with people
Walking 10 minutes to another bus stop because someone turns up eating a sandwich

Yet Said person has normal appetite and can eat happily and healthly when alone.

What would be wrong with this person? 4 years suffering and getting worse.

    Tried googling but no joy.

    cheers.

I have heard of this condition but cant remember which phobia it is labeled as .

I imagine it's all part of subconcious thought , ie sombody is looking at me when they most likley are not ,but then your into the realm of paranoia .

I think it's more common but not highlighted as much as other conditions/phobias

My food habits were rather messed up a few years ago, not the typical student pack of noodles stereotype - I won't go into details but it largely tied into anxiety, self-destructive patterns...won't say more. They've improved now but I wouldn't wish that stuff on anyone.

Perhaps you need to consider having a chat with a professional.

Can you eat in front of a mirror so that you are watching yourself eating? If getting worse go to GP and ask for referral to psychologist/psychiatrist.

He's phobic of OTHER people eating near him. OP I would definitely recommend you go to a therapist to try and find the root cause of this phobia and try and work on it. I don't really think anything we tell you here could be of much help.

I could kinda understand if you were eating aswell but are you saying this happens even when your not eating?

What about when people are eating on TV?
