If this is the wrong section please put in the right section thanks as I dont know where it fits exactly.

I have a situation with a Malaysia friend and her work. Basicaly she is in the country for over one year now and she recently lost her job for not turning up one day for personal reasons, somthing to so with her father being unwell

Anyways her visa has just expired and she needs to renew it asap. She is staying here under a scheme where she must be enrolled as a student inorder to get her tempory visa. She is paying alot of money to do a business course however she cannot pay for the 2nd year of her course because she lost her job. Now that her visa has expired, she needs to show the immigration guys proof that she is doing a course with a good attendance rate inorder to get her visa renewed. She also needs proof that she has at least 1k in the bank inorder to get her visa also. Loosing her job has resulted in this mess, she is too afraid to go and explain her situation to the immigration people in fear she will get deported.

I am a close friend to her since she came here so I am also worried she will have to leave. She sends money home every month to her family so they rely on her for financial support. Unfortunately I dont have money to help her as I am a student also.

Is there another way she can get a visa other then marrying an irish guy? I mean if she got a 3 month visa at least that would give her time to get her feet back on track.

Can she get a reference from someone to help her get a visa? Could a friend write a reference?

    Thanks,

    Tomasso

Student visa, work visa or holiday visa (maybe?) are her only realistic options unfortunately...

Her student visa is just expired, she has no money in the bank to show off and her business course is due payment. To get her visa renewed is having proof she is doing a course and has some money in the bank to speak off.

I tried going to the immigration place in burgh quayearlier and sat there for 2 hours waiting to speak to someone and get advice before I ran out of the place sick of waiting.. Im hoping they will understand her situation.

Maybe if she can pay her course by installments it would be easier for her, but according to her the schools she is with wont allow her to pay this way.

I had a Russian friend in a similar situation - the immigration people do not give a **** whatsoever, so don't expect any sympathy from them.

My friend went the marriage route and it worked out fine (well, the marriage didn't work out, but that's a different story altogether!)

Could she work in a cash in hand job (e.g. in a hotel) to try to get the money together?

    How much are her fees?

She was working in a fastfood chain before she was sacked and that was paid weekly. She has a very very part time job doing cleaning in some ladies house which is paying her cash in hand. Her course is costing her 1,300 but with her visa expiring I dont know any other ways around it.

Can she talk to the school? I reckon she is studying English(low fees) Sometimes they can arrange installment payments and send a letter to the immigration office on her behalf. Also for the immigration card, proving she has sufficient funds- she could get a lend off someone and transfer it back as soon as she gets the statement!
