    Hey guys,

    I've been trying to find a couple of movies on region 2 for a while now, without any luck so far;

"After Hours" directed by Martin Scorsese and released in 1985. It stars Griffin Dunne (from An American Werewolf in London) and set in New York over a 24 hour period.

"Vamp" is from 1986 and was directed by Richard Wenk. It's a kind of comedy/horror movie. Grace Jones even makes a brief appearance in it.

Anyway they are both entertaining movies, kinda like movies you would watch late at night. I have seen both were available on region 1, maybe they were never released on region 2, I'm not sure.

After hours (region 2) is available to buy on amazon uk in the used and new section. It's 15.75stg,which seems steep so it must be hard to get. Vamp seems to be only on R1 as you thought.

Once you own the original copy then as far as I know its perfectly legal to make a backup for yourself on region 2 which is easy enough to do.

therefore, buy it on region 1 if thats all thats available and convert it to region 2.

Or just buy a multi region player???

    They are cheap as chips.

I got mine about 3 years ago for 50 euro and without it at least a third of my dvd collection would be obsolete.

There are sooooooo many movies that get far better packaging in region 1 or 3 eg

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Pans-Labyrinth-Rare-2-DVD-Limited-Book-Edition-R3_W0QQitemZ270206791209QQihZ017QQcategoryZ2288QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

so a multi region player pays for itself incredibly fast.

Does it make a deference if its conerted to region 2, is it still ntsc or does it automatically become pal.

I have not got a multiregion player yet but I may get a cheap one.

Unless Im mistaken none of the big companies-sony,panasonic etc make them so they are dirt cheap.
Mine is made by powerpoint and its never given me a days trouble plus its tiny so it takes up feck all space.

When I said convert to region 2, I should have said make it region free. You simply put it on a blank dvd without the region code. In the long term, a region free player as nedtheshed said is the way to go, takes less time and hassle. I got a good plustron dvd player that is region free from dunnes and it also plays avi, divx etc, and has usb, you can get them for about €30.

I made my DVD player multi-region by downloading a hack off the net, I simply googled 'hack plus my make of DVD'. I burned the hack onto DVD and played it in my player, worked perfect.

I picked up a Phillips DVD player in Power City for €45 on Sunday (€50 with 10% off). I put the model number into Google and easily found hacks to make it region free. Just have to get some non-region 2 DVDs now.
