Idea for a Satellite

I had this brainwave whilst playing with BCB and Champ87 in the fitz a while back, I was trying to think of an original idea for poker.

So for a satellite I came up with this. This works as a syndicate type of game.

10 players for 450 each for the IO for example. 50,000 chips in play.

Everyone starts with 5,000 chips - everyone starts with 5% of the action. You agree to play for a set period of time, say 8 hours.
The player with the greatest % at the end of the 8 hours will be the one to play the tournament. You are effectively playing poker for A the right to playt he tournament, and also for a greater share in the eventual player. The blinds never raise, they will be constantly 25-50, so everyone will start with 100BB, you can also choose to leave at any stage, so for example if you happened to get yourself up to 15,000, you would now have 15% from the game and 5% of the original = 20% of the eventual winner.
Even if you got to the stage where you have over 1/2 the chips in play you have an incentive to play on to secure a higher % in yourself.

I thought it could also work if people chose to buy in for 10,000 chips and they risked their whole % in the game, but with my way everyone take at least a small piece of the action.

It could also work as a MTT where everyone played on and once they lost their 5,000 they could buy in for their remaining 5,000 or leave, but noone could go above the 10,000 they originally received.
Also once you got to more than 2 tickets it would be the players with the hgihest %`s who played and then the net proceeds of all competitors would be pooled by the remaining %.
I.e. 200,000 chips in play, Player A has 35,000 and B has 30,000. the other 135,000 would be dividied between the other players, but if A cashed for €100,000 and B cashed for €20,000, the €120,000 would be syndicated equally between each player (except for the players themselves who would keep their own %. i.e. if B was knocked out A would still get his whole % as agreed)
It would give the whole syndicate a chance to cash, and add a new element to qualifying.

    What do you think?

    Anything to add or questions?

good idea joe although im sure mark would have about 90% of the chips after an hour so it may not go on as long as expected

Don't you mean 50,000 chips in play

    yup, edited.

I think it would be something different and would work very well in a 10-30 man tournament.
I wouldnt mind organising it, and Im sure JP would run it.

    Hi Joe,

It's not as bad an idea now that i've read the full idea. You didn't explain it great last night. I still think a syndicate game with the winner playing and keeping the lions share and 2nd getting say 10%, 3rd 5% and so on.

That said i think this idea could work well between a small group of friends.

If you ever try getting this going i'll be sure to help you out.

So is anyone interested in doing this for the Irish open?
You can buy in for your full 10% => 10,000 chips or for 5% being 5,000.
I think if we got 20 people it would be great craic and make for some interesting play.
250 each - 4,500 ticket and 500 cash for the player.
