Where have all the rpgs gone,,

Just been playing rogue galaxy lately as there is no real rpgs on the ps3 yet bar cblivion and enchanted arms,
What happened??? there are more 360 rpgs coming out at the mo??
Where is White knight story ???

Folklore is a decent ARPG by Game Republic. Going cheap I would say.

Jap devs in general are way behind with their tech and games for this generation of consoles. FFXIII and White Knight due by end of the year in Japan at least.

I think one big problem is that square enix are in a bit of turmoil since the big walk out of most of their talent. They haven't got the staff to work on multiple projects and have lots of new teams that need to cut their teeth and are working on PSP and DS games first. Also the huge market share of the DS in japan means that most of the JRPGs are being released on the DS instead of the PS3, even dragon quest IX is moving to the DS platform.

I'm sure White Knight Story will be a great game but it's going to take some time to come out since it's being made by quite a small team. Don't worry though persona 3 on the PS2 should be out in february and if you can play american PS2 games then don't miss out on Odin Sphere.

It's kind of funny that the xbox 360 has a much better range of JRPGs despite the PS3 being the obvious choice due to it's market share in japan. Speaking of which Eternal Sonata should be out soon on PS3 and the 360 version was excellent so should be just as good.

Thank god rogue galaxy works on ps3, its quality is amazing..

Well the Rot of square enix was already starting around that time as well. Compared to the SNES and PS1 the PS2 was very disappointing for JRPG fans. There were a good few crackers from other companies but after FFX when the walk out happened the output of Square Enix went to the dogs.

BTW if you like Rogue Galaxy check out Dragon Quest VIII. It's by the same team, Level 5, that made Rogue Galaxy and is probably the best JRPG on the system (for me FFX just edges it).

its very slow to get going, but once youre into it yeah its quality

i thoroughly recommend it, especially since youll pick it up for about €45 new in xtravision these days

Ive already played dragon quest 8, its the whole reason I bought rogue galaxy,
Got shadow hearts 1-3 in gamestop yesterday, should keep me occupied for a while:):)

The first shadow hearts isn't the may west but don't let that put you off the second game in the series which is excellent. Haven't got round to the third yet.

Glad another person has played Dragon Quest VIII, it really is an amazing game.

Wildarms 5 is out in feb as well as persona 3 if that interests ya,Id also recommend the atelier series and the valkeryie profile game,if you have'nt tryed them already that is.

I've a question dragon questviii is the same game as dragon quest and the cursed king ya?

rogue galaxy one of the best RPG's iv ever played

its a game that once uve finished the story, you can still collect stuff and go to the pirates ship

I bought it on recomendation on these pages, Ive just started collecting monsters for that fighting arena, a cool side quest.
Im at the point where i got that lizard heart with the fat kid & theres a cool fair on with savage weapons, so im taking on the fighting sidequest to try build up my gold stash to buy the weapons.

Am I far into the game? or have i just scratced the surface?? hope the casino opens soon as i wanna gamble!!!

Just scratching the surface the game really is massive. Have to say it's well worth playing through until the end. Very rewarding if only for angus and the king giving me the best laugh I've ever had from a video game.

It's a side scrolling shoot'em up and not an RPG, but yes you all deserve to go to hell for not buying what is by far and away the best game on the PS2

Persona is a spin-off of the Shin Megami Tensei series but is supposedly even better than the main series of games. Well it's different from any other game other than it's spiritual prequel Princess Crown which is an obscure japanese saturn game so I doubt you have played it. It's basically a side scrolling 2D beat'em up with levelling up and some small farming elements. It's more beat'em up than RPG, think of it as a 2D devil may cry that feels like an RPG, contains some RPG game elements and has a fantastic storyline. Also the graphics are simply stunning and the soundtrack is excellent.

wild arms 5 is out 29-2-08 as is persona 3,odin sphere is the 1st of march apparently,retro have you played the persona 1 and 2 per chance?

Haven't played any of the shin megami tensei series so can't really comment on any of the games other than what I've heard of them.
