So with the timetable hitting tonight at midnight (well, it says midnight on the 29th) I think now is the time to start discussing the biggest Irish movie event of the year.

So: anyone have any wishlists of films they want to see on the schedule? Hoping Margot at the Wedding, Be Kind Rewind and Persopilis (probably incorrect spelling) get showings myself.

I'm hoping the JDIFF show Gone Baby Gone and since There Will Be Blood opens after the festival they might show that as well.

"Quackser Fortune has a cousin in the Bronx" is going to be screened in the Gravediggers...where some of it was shot....

Has anyone heard of this film....It stars Gene Wilder and is set in Dublin in early 1970s...There is some discussion about how good his accent is...but actually i love this film

It's a forgotten movie from the early '70s, also called Fun Loving.
Wilder collects horse manure for a living and falls for the extremely attractive Kidder.
Back than there were a lot of tradesmen who used horses to drag their carts around the city.
There's a great charm to the picture and it's more Irish than a lot of better known films made here in recents years.

"Fun Loving"? never knew that...although It doesnt really suit the film, as it gets darker towards the end.

I am looking forward to seeing this film in the Gravediggers.

I never really understood how this film, imperfect as it is, got completely forgotten about...it is much better than some more-lauded films

It's certainly better than 95% of Irish Film Board funded movies.

    1) "La Antena" ....B/W Silent argentinian film....It got moved to the Sunday Morning to accomodate a second showing of "Katyn"..which is a pity cos those who went to it loved it...

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0454065

Some footage was used in the JDIFF show reel they showed around the city I have no doubts that we will be hearing a lot about this film in the future.

    2) Tuya's Wedding got great feedback

    3) I saw "Tres Bien Merci"..Kafkaesque French film ..good performances..very discomforting
