I own both ps3 and an xbox and something ive noticed now that games are starting to appear on both formats is that the ps3 version of games tend to be €10 more expensive than the xbox counterparts. can anyone shed any light on this? is there a particular reason for it? everytime i find i go for the 360 version instead as i get the feeling im being ripped off for the ps3 version (not that we arent being ripped of as it is)

i would assume its more expensive to make Blue Ray disks at the moment where as the Xbox is still on DVD format.

but i doubt its €10 more expensive.

Always thought they were the same. Where do you buy your games?

Blu Rays are very expensive to produce, not sure if thats the reason though.

Probably a combination of two or three factors at least

    Price of the BD.

Less of a market for PS3 at the moment

Maybe the XBox games are being dropped in price to keep the sales high?

A lot of the difference comes from the fact that sony set a rrp. for their first party games which is generally around €60 while 3rd party publishers don't and hence allow for retail gouging. With the PS3 being the newer system retailers pump up the 3rd party prices, while leaving the xbox prices lower as they figure people will pay more for games on the newer system.

I don't think that Blu-Ray production costs really come into it. It is more Retailer Rip off.

I find that ordering online is best (Videogamesplus.ca or ebay) and if you can't do that then Virgin/Zaavi (€55 on week of release), Harvey Normans (€56 for new releases iirc) and Argos (around €59) are best followed by Smyths with the loyalty card.

Game and Gamestop are not too competitive for most things (although sometimes they have bargains) while hmv is very hit and miss
