Mulling over the idea of buying a second-hand old model one - the 225bhp facelift model.
Anybody had one - what was it like?
    How was the mpg?
    Any problems?

Where can I find out what the new post-july road tax will be on that engine?

My borther used to have one

This one to be exact: http://www.carzone.ie/usedcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=car&carID=881678

BEAUTIFUL car, was imported from uk with lo milage- lovely spec, full leather in grey. Tight as a drum.

Brother says it was the nicest car hes ever owned, went very hard on him to sell it on.

Just saw the VRT question now, its 222g/km. That puts it into banf F in June. 32% VRT and 1k Tax for year. Not know how that compares to present situation.

Oh and he said it was a thirsty car but worth it (dont know exact MPG) :)

Not an owner but have experience of a 225 one with a decent remap, best fun ive had in a hot hatch in a long time!!! the 4 wheel drive is excellent!!!

pretty hard to find a clean one that hasn't been ragged, also FSH is essential esp as regards the changing of the haldex(4wd controller) oil and filter-this should be done every 40k.

cheers - any tips for making sure it's a clean car? Besides the FSH?
