Nice enough place , nice enough people but a hell of a lot more expensive than other Central American countries , in Costa Rica I was spending $80-100 per day compared with $30-40 in Nicaruaga,Honduras and $20-30 in Guatemala.
Its very American in a lot of ways, a lot of the signs are in english, a lot of ex pat yanks seem to own / run the hotels/hostels/ dive shops/ trekking operations, most if not all of the towns of any size have at least one of starbucks, mc ****, wendys.
Its big draw is the rainforest / eco tourism thing , although how anyone can claim to be an eco tourist after flying across the atlantic on a 747 beats me but there you go !!

Personally I would rather Panama/Nicaruaga/Guatemala over Costa Rica.

Costa Rica is the most beautiful place in the whole world apart from Ireland of course!

Nice places are definately Samura, with the town right on the beach ,and a lovely atmosphere. Infact the whole of Costa Rica has a great atmosphere except San Jose !

People are so friendy and live life at a comfortable pace!

The weather is great , the people are great, the food is great, the terrain is great, the beaches are great, the drink is great and the animals are great !

The only not so great things about Costa Rica is the poverty , Earthquakes and rain in the wet season!

I would love to go back there but the flights are bit out of budget for me frown.gif

For anyone else thinking of going ,, GO
