Excellent choice, although I wouldn't be to mad about the white front valance. It just doesn't suit the car me thinks. Otherwise it looks like a good project.

Ah its just the style of the 760, really happy with her! there are hardly any 760's left in Ireland i'm just glad i found one.

Also i was wondering the car was a English import and was registerd after '86 would it be possible to get a ZV reg?

Or i'll just stick with the silver on black background style plates!

ZV plates can only be got if the car is 30 years or more old. So you'll have to wait until 2014 until it can be eligible for ZV plate!

Black-on-red plates were the style back then, although having 84-D on those old type of plates would look a bit odd. I reckon you should just leave the plates that are on it, on it.

    Thanks Max!

I'll just get a set of silver on black plates so.

I've got a spotless Volvo 340 '86 40k 1.8 good as the day it was bought - brought it to a Classic Car show last year and they nearly wouldn't let me in as they reckoned it wasn't a classic!

WD on the buy Volvoboy - that's when cars were cars and Volvos were Volvos (tanks!) - great car that it'd give a lot of today's bigger cars a run for their money!

I reckon you should bring it to a few shows next summer (i.e. Trim & Terenure) if you have it all fixed up by then. Haven't seen a 760 in the flesh in years!

    Hi

congrats on the new purchase. Looks in good nick for the year. hopefully I can get yourself and eamon234 and any other interested owners along to the next Volvo owners meeting in Ireland (Maybe early in March).

We have had 4 meetings so far alternating between the South and the North as there are members both sides of teh Border with a range of cars from a 164 to a fully loaded V70.My brother in law has a mint 86 750 TD while I drive an 88 240 GLT.

I will post on here with the next meets details.

    regards

    Brendan

My uncle had a very similar one except it had the turbo intercooled engine. It was a beautiful car, but I think he lost about €12,000 on it in one year!

(it was about 1990 too, and had a different front end IIRC)

Best of luck with the car Volvoboy, I must admit I was a big fan of those cars/tanks growing up. My admiration then moved onto the 850 especially the estate and the t5.

I was thinking of you yesterday as i passed a garage not a million miles away from me , they've got at least one and possible more of these lying around. The guy seems to be a fan of Volvo's as he's always got a couple around.

If you need parts that badly and were prepared to travel 30 minutes from Athlone I'll point you in this dudes direction or at very least get a phone number for ya.

    Just let me know.
