Buying Gear Onlilne?

As I've mentioned in other posts, I'm getting back into the game after a couple of years out. Just paid up full membership this week actually!

Anyhoo, looking at replenishing my gear and wondering does anyone buy golf balls online or is it worth it when you add on shipping? My bro works in a golf shop so i could prob get a decent discount.

I'm lookin for Pro V1x or NXT Tours. Dunno how trusting I'd be of the "mint condition" used balls online - especially with prov's. Might buy a batch for practice though. But for play I'd be looking for new balls which don't seem to be overly cheap online.

    All info/advice welcome

    Conor

I can't understand people splashing out on golf balls unless you a low handicapper. Some people i play with take out their ProV and lob it into the ditch/pond on the first hole. six quid down the drain.
    Crazy stuff.

I forgot to put balls in my bag yesterday. All i had when i got to the course were 2 top flite xl distance. Played some of my best golf in months and had only 21 putts.

Certianly makes me think twice about splashing out 50 quid or so on top balls.

    Not a helpful post.

I'm off 6 and was a lot lower when I played more competitively.

Hackers like Graham... well... whether it was a topfilgh XL or a bar of soap - probably wouldn't make much difference :D

Haha, ye cheeky sod. I've used Direct Golf a fair bit and have nothing bad to say about them at all. Always first class. Then again, they maybe treat us hackers a bit better.

No chance. Spent 300 on driver last year.... it was fake.

tried buying a wedge a few years back. paid for it, never turned up.

I'd much rather pay a few quid extra and a) know what i was getting b) have a proper after sales service.

Did the sellers in question have high feedback ratings. In fairness you are taking a bit of an extra risk - but there are bargains to be had for the prudent buyer.

Ah... to be honest, the pictures put up here a while back of counterfeit clubs and how you could spot the tiny differences and the seemingly considerable differences in performance/quality put me off the idea.

Plus, when you add p&p there's not THAT much of a saving - not enough to warrant the risk IMO.
