    System Preferences > Accounts

How many users are here? Is your account set as the admin?

The password it's looking for is the one you provided for your account when you created it. You can change the password > System Preferences > Accounts > Change Password.

The Mac will ask you for this every time you try to install something - it's a security feature to ensure you know when something is being installed.

If you've forgotten the password insert your Leopard CD > reboot your Mac > Hold down the C key until it boots to the installer. From the menu choose "Change Password" and enter the new password.
