Most of the instant messaging clients now have the facility to call a phone number.

I always lose my phone and my housemate doesn't have one so I usually text a few people using webtexts to get them to call me.

No one ever calls but they always text saying I clearly have my phone as I have just texted from it. I use these texts to find it!

Once I called my boyfriend from my mobile while in my car outside his house telling him I'd lost it. He came down and said he couldn't find it anywhere. He told me this while I sat there with my phone in my hands. I kept it going for about 5 minutes before he realised what an idiot he is.

Sign up on one of the many voip sites and do a free "test" call to yourself.

    OP, don't you have friends?

She probably does, but the flaw in your option is how can you tell your friends to ring you if you cant get to your phone (to get to contacts!!) :D:D

Use webtexts? I keep a few contacts in my online phonebook so I always have someone to text when I can't find my phone.

alot of people these days don't have a landline unless they want ADSL Broadbamd, in which case they have to pay the eircom tax of 25e for having a landline,

Is it just me who does this?

    loses phone
    calls phone from landline
    finds phone
thinks "Ooh look, I missed a call, wonder who that was".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,641 ✭✭✭kev_s88

nope thats a common occurence with me

also, to prove to my friends that it is possible to text yourself, i text myself.....*phone rings*.....

ME: ooh a message i wonder who its from

    damn i felt stupid

I have an incoming calls only landline in my student accommodation. I can call other apartments but beyond that I have to use my mobile. (Unless I'm in Mammy's house!)

I think that a lot of people rely on their mobiles rather than having a landline.
