Raid 1 Question - Degraded

    My system has been running in Raid 1 mode without any issues until today. I installed quicktime, and it seems to have messed up the array.
    On a reboot, the raid drives message flashes red and says its degraded.
    I can now see both drives that were mirrored, where I used to just see one drive showing up.
    I uninstalled QT, and this didn't help. so I restored to a point a few days ago, but still no joy.
    The pc is running ok, but I think it's just one one drive now. The mirrored drive is showing a different amount of free space, which leads me to believe it's not being written to when the writing to the other drive.

    Can any of my fellow boardsies help??
