monkey island 4 --help

    I just got monkey island 4 (escape from monkey island) but cant even get of the first part.. I think I must have missed something when I installed it. The mouse does not work and all I seem to be able to use is the arrow keys and that does not seem to be able to do much just keep moving around the pole he is tied to. any ideas anyone or where could I get some cheats for this game. thanks :(

    It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure that's normal. Escape didn't use a point and click interface like the rest, so there's no mouse input, and no cursor to control. You just steer him around with the arrow keys, kind of like a Resident Evil game. When his head turns to look at something, you press some buttons(don't know which exactly) to make him examine/pick up/use etc. The first puzzle is how to get him untied from the pole, it's perfectly possible to do with the tools provided, so I don't think you've missed anything.
    Solution, if you're still stuck:
    Turn to face the brazier of hot coals and USE it. Pick up one of the coals, turn toward the loaded cannon and you should be able to kick the coal at it
