I think this is the correct forum.

There are studies to show the results are always the same, there is a leaning towards a certain number.

I want to see if the Irish brain is the same!

Pick a number pseudorandomly within the set of numbers given, surely!

I think a more correct forum would be one with higher traffic - you'd get a larger sample...

Also, where's my consent form? :p

*tsk* you'll be asking for a debrief next John.

If there is a larger forum that it could be moved to, feel free to.

I need to get about 100 + votes to get a decent result.

There's lots of larger forums that it could be moved to. It needs relevance to those forums though for me to move it...

Studies show that numbers from 5 - 10 get picked most and 7 generally gets most from that range.

From the first 55 votes, not seeing any significance between the first 5 and last 5 using a one-way ANOVA F(1,8) = 2.18, p=n.s.

For two groups, would a t-test not have been more suitable than an ANOVA?

don't think there's any difference in suitability - should get the same result. I'm not in the same procrastinating mood, but maybe later :)

Think the main thing is ANOVA with only 2 groups doesn't require post-hocs...

Yes, but the figures are based on 1000's rather than 55.
