saw this on tradecarview.com. Its a 07 corolla but Im wondering if its a 3 box Van? And if so, could it be taxed as a van? It has windows and seating included. The car is so basic, those wheels look like they came off a K20 of 1974....

Why would you want a saloon van?

    Scratches head...

It has steel wheels with no hubcaps so therefore it must be a van???

You could rip the seats out, plate over the windows, paint it lime green and put POST on the side of it and it would still be a saloon car.

Wouldn't see a saloon being very practical as a van to be honest.

BTW this is the first commerical version of the VW Passat estate I've seen available:

I thought the rear doors were supposed to be 'non-opening' to qualify?

    Nope.

Most vans have opening side doors.

The first "coversion" with side opening doors was the Musso from 1996.

Why then do they expect the rear doors of a standard 4x4/SUV to be sealed when it's converted to a 'comercial'?

They don't. The back seats have to be removed and seat belt anchor points welded closed.

Fair enough - but friends of mine insisted that they had to 'seal' the doors also!

It definately isn't a legal requirment. It may have been. They required the alpine lights in the first land rover discovery commericals be blocked, but relented after a few years!

Ssangyong were there first. Pajero, Landcruiser etc followed soon after.

The little curved windows in the back in the roof line, not in the middle like a sun roof, or windows in the side panels.

Are commercial versions not usually cheaper than the passenger equivelant? The passenger 1.9tdi starts around 32k does it not?

That one looks a bit pimped. Electric seats etc.

There's a SEAT Altea van too.

I also saw a van version of the Corolla Verso too (somewhere in Europe)

You can also get a renault scenic van.

Yeah but in fairness, it's a lot more van shaped than a saloon, plus its cheaper than all the passenger equivelants.

well I dont, but there is such a vehicle. Its called a Corolla Appista X. Maybe its available for taxi work or as a Van. I did find another Corolla Van but it was this one, one of many for sale and all dating from 2002 which I thought were last made in 1997..
