Any idea of the transfer speeds of this? How long would it take to transfer 1gb?

It seems like a great deal alright but I have heard some nightmare stories of a gb taking over 5 mins to transfer onto some of this usb flash drives!

I own this usb key - speed wise it pretty good.

Overall no complaints really - it light, very portable - just have it hooked along my car keys etc

The top plastic usb cover falls off quite easy if dropped etc but havnt lost it yet...so :D:D

I got it off ebay for about €27ish so this looks to be a great deal imo

to be fair these cheap things are slow as fkk

i've a 2gig generic piece of **** that cost next to nuttin

so slow I could cook a roast dinner while transferring an episode of 1 minute wonders

Buy quality and something that will last you a few years rather than a POS like this

Any particular make/model you would recommend Chump?

Am in the market for a 4gb one and dont mind paying for speed!

Banner , I bought a cheap ,E27, Play branded 4gb flash drive on play.com a few months ago and it was very good (until I broke it!). It transferred films etc in a matter of seconds but for the most part I just played them straight off the drive without transferring them to the laptop without any stalling etc. There was never any problem...until I stood on it that is :)

I have one of these Kingston 4G sticks. Just did a quick test and it took 2:30 to transfer 1GB. Not the fastest but also not the slowest. I have an Infinion one I bought from SVP last year and it takes about 6 or 7 minutes to do 1GB. That one was awful.

MX2 are offering a 4Gb USB drive for £13 with free delivery, so it works out at about the same price.

    Hey ch750536,

    Cheers

Got one of these 4GB Kingston USB sticks and can't fault it, have it over a year and got it from dvd.co.uk

Odd thing with flash drives, the speed never used to be an issue as they were not that big. (I remember having an 8mb one...) however, now they have reached huge sizes (32 gig) it makes sense to stop buying cheap and start buying well.

    One thing performance
    another is reliability.

The crucial ones are guaranteed for 10 years and are washing machine resistant, need I say more.

If this were a HDD, nobody would even contemplate buying the one that is 6 times slower, yet for all purposes is is a HDD (without the D)

Don't throw money away, I'll take it if you don't want it.

I got mine yesterday. Works fine. Physically smaller than I expected.
    Speed seems good.
Is there a relatively easy way to measure the speed of these things?
