Right so, I'm awake, albeit hungover. Is this still on, I'm probably waaaay too late for anyone to see this in time. I'm literally around the corner form PAtricks Cathedral wich is going to be my first stop before City Hall. PM me with numbers to meet up or something.

Boo urns, I'd have loved to but I'm wrecked. So sick. I never realised elven was a mod. Stop opressing us elven, you're what we call "the man".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,464 ✭✭✭evilhomer

Would have loved to go, but off to the zoo instead with a friend and her two nephews. That should be fun.

Looking forward to seeing the pics from the meet.

Here's a few from today. Before anyone says it, I know the horizon is off to the left on the first one. It's way too late for me to reopen it and fix it.
Looking forward to seeing what else everybody else got.

great photos Pete and nice to meet you (and your D3) yesterday

all the photos posted are taken with 15mm. That was a Sigma lens you had wasnt it as they are all lovely and sharp

i'm waiting to see the mysterious photo that "appeared" on Sineads memory card posted up .....

really like #2...the symmetry and the evolution of the colour of the shot is quite striking...well done!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,944 ✭✭✭pete4130

Was good to see everyone yesterday Rory. Was good to get out and shoot with people for a change. They were all shot with the 15-30 with the exception of the stairs, that was with the 15mm fisheye (and inspired by Darren's Charleville shots if you hadn't guessed!).

We did some more detective work - after closer inspection, it appeared to be a picture of a TV! It would have been jpg because that happens when you change the camera to fully auto. So, somoene took the camera, changed it to auto, took a picture of a TV, and put it back on Av and back where it was!!!

Love that first one, but what's going on in the sky? Kinda multiple imaging thing going on ...

Did y'all head out to IMMA afterwards or something?

It's an HDR image, so thats where the multiple image look is coming from. We went out to IMMA for a short while before everyone was cold, hungry and thirsty for beer!

Lovely shots Pete last two are fantastic

    Great shots!

The second is the winner for me because of the fantastic colours.

excellent takes Pete - looks like a good days outing. I love the HDR of the building in number 1 (assume this was Dublin castle?) - the 15-30 gives interesting perspective on things, a little lens distortion but rather interesting all the same. cool.

The first one is inside the courtyard at IMMA. Thanks for the feedback. Waiting to see everyone elses stuff now.

pete, compared to your photos, I would be too embarassed to post my photos !

Rory, don't be silly! That was my 2nd trip to City Hall so I already knew what I wanted to try to get there from my previous mistakes! I think it is a case of the camera taking the good pictures, not me.

Some of your stuff on flickr is great. I really like the city shots, some cracking night shots there too!

dont be so modest, the camera can only be as good as its user Pete. Although I do have a picture of Darren coveting your D3 and wondering how much of a head start he would need on you !

A funny memory of the day was in City Hall when Darren was on his knees taking a photo on the floor and 6 or so tourists noticed him and came over to look at what was going on and came over and peered around the columns expecting to see people or someone famous or at least "something" being photographed and you could see their faces go "Huh?" when they peered around the pillar to see Darren taking a picture of a blank wall !

And then of course learning from tips in another thread, I tried out some glamour photography while we were out in IMMA

tripod, long exposure and patient wife were the key to this one in Paris :)

Ah Pete you are worthy of the great camera, for sure. That stairway is a winner!

Here's a couple I was half pleased with, considering there were no flowers to shoot

Great shots everyone. Turned out to be a great day including the drinks afterwards :) Just one of mine for now. I need to get a wider angle lens.

Sorry I missed out, don't have t'internet at home and had already made plans when I got a text from Elven.

Looks like they were ok with bringing tripods etc inside the building. I'm ashamed to say I have never been inside it and I've lived in this city all my life :o

Great shots Al, love the inside one of city hall.

I was expecting to be banned again. I hope I'm still at this camera lark when I get to that age.
