If i were to run a €40/€40 Tourney what is the best amount of chips to give for the buyin and then rebuy?

    5000/10,000?

Tourney will have about 30 runners. 20 minute blinds starting on 25/50.

    Is 5000/10k about right?

    cheers.

How long does the rebuy period last? And is it rebuy OR top-up? And how late can players enter the game? These are important questions.

Rebuy is up to the end of level 4. Anyone who hasn't rebought can use it as a top up. So its a reBuy/TopUp. LAte players are allowed up to the end of level 1.

The card room employees here can answer your question better, but having the re-buy at double the initial buy-in upsets the balance of the game, imo. Having it at 7K/7K or 7K/8K is much better. With a big re-buy option, players don't really care about the initial stack, and just gamble it away to get the extra value of the re-buy chips. You don't have to worry about playing any poker for the first 4 levels, because you have the cushion of the big re-buy/top-up. So the early stages become a bit insignificant.

With 20 min blinds,I'd recommend either a start stack of 5k, rebuy 6k or top-up at the break of 7k or start stack of 6k, rebuy 7k and top-up at the break of 8k. Should be plenty play in that.

pokerevents-ste is on the ball, the only important thing is how long do you want it to run for.

We're in a private members club so there is no limit on what time we play to. But i'd like it over somewhere around 1am or 2am, starting at 8pm.:)

This site Blind Structures is a good guide to setting up blind structures and calculating how long your tournament is going to last.

Essentially the total number of chips and the blind levels determine the length of your tournament. You will have to calculate/estimate how many people will be in the tournament and estimate how many of them will avail of the rebuy/top up in order to get an estimate of the total number of chips that will be in play.
