Currys/PC World Product Insurance

I have a tv insured with currys for 5 years. Got it when I bought the tv. It says I can bring it to the store if a problem occurs and get an instant replace of it or a newer model.
Lets say I do pretend it has a problem. What would be a good thing to say. I don't want to say something that they can get a part for. I want them to just give me the new model tv.

    Any suggestions?

Perhaps you could say there are lizards pouring out the back of it?

What you seem to be suggesting is hardly what insurance is for and if people start this racket then it will only cause the price of the item or insurance to increase for all.

BTW - I think this type of insurance is a bit of a rip off as you have a 12 month warranty yet the insurance covers the 1st year as well.

Despite what you think you actually have a 2 yr guarantee with every product. I had a Dell tv which broke recently after 14 months but i only had a 12 month warranty. after some arguing on the phone and still no luck with a replacement i said i contacted the comsumer assoc.

    http://www.consumerassociation.ie/rights.html

according to them any product should be fit for purpose for 2 yrs.
once i mentiond this on the phone she immediatly changed her tone and offered me a refurbished tv with 3 months warranty.
    So there ya Go.

That's because the lizards don't know the words ;)

or it could be the power supply , does the noise change if you change the brightness ?

I would seriously doubt they'll give you an instant replacement. I had a policy with Dixons on a hi-fi and during the 5 years it broke twice, both times they fixed it. The policy did state however that if they did not fix it within 6 weeks that they would then offer a replacement / equivalent product.
buy a new tv or just keep watching the one you have, what are you like coming in here asking for scamming advice ?

If the product is within the 28 days, now gone to 32 days you can bring it back to the store for an instant replacement. If for example you bring the tv back to your local store and say that there is something wrong with it after the 32 days. They will say that they have to book a service engineer to go out to your house to take a look at your product as it is not replaced in store. If the service engineer can fix it, they will. If they can't then they will issue you out vouchers to the value of the telly. Bear in mind that they have 28 days to repair your product before replacing it.

And if your going to do this, I suggest doing something to the telly that will make it a write off and unfixable. This is not being honest, but people do do it. In the long run it won't be worth your while as you will be without a telly for a minimum of 28 days.
