Saw in the paper today that both Dublin and Kilkenny have pulled out of the Walsh Shield (competition in hurling for teams that lose their first round Walsh Cup tie)

V poor form, particulary on the part of Kilkenny. Obviously feel the competition is beneath them. Whatever happened to the top teams trying to raise the profile of the game in some of the weaker counties.

I am not that bothered as a Dub. We lost to a better team on the day who used a few of our own players against us and who offer scholarships to the best players in the land.

It is a shame for their opponents that they pulled out alright. From a Kilkeeny point of view they don't have that much to gain from taking part in the Walsh Shield.

    What is your point?

It's the same for every county in all these early competitions. Mayo had a poor enough team out for the FBD but we fulfilled all our fixtures

id say the same about roscommon. we got a good hockeying in every game in the fbd, when without our college players (we lost to two colleges also!)
But in fairness, we shouldnt be pinning all our hopes on the college players as some of them arent that good, and some of the others are too young to be expected to be leaders of a poor squad in general.
