One from yesterday. First time I got up in what seems like 10 years and the sun was actually shining.

    Lovely and sharp.
Best robin shot I've seen in a while - and they're popular buggers!

Its really nice, fantastic lighting - perfect for photos, smashing depth of field control. But (imho) a crop putting it into portrait form works *really* *really* nice. Either ways it is quite beautiful and one to be proud of. Well done.

Again thanks for all the nice comments.

@TelePaul - it was taken in Clonmel, there's a wild-foul reserve called Marlfield lake and the Robins here are a little easier to get near due to the amount of people coming and going feeding ducks... I'm a cheat!

@AnCatDubh - thanks for the advice, I tried the crop and I must say I like it. I'm a little bit worried that it might not print so well if I crop it too tight... Maybe it'll be okay, I'll try it!

@dazftw - With the D50. (Although I hope to upgrade soon). To be honest I don't think the camera should make a huge difference. As I said above, the lens likes lots of light to get any good out of it (imo).

good point - it would depend on how large you wish to do a print. I think the D50 is a 6MP jobbie and assuming the above is straight out of the camera you should easily go to A3 size with the full image. I've gone to A2 and beyond with a 6MP image and while at A2 size it wasn't perfect, it was quite respectable and viewable - only slight pixelation.

So as a rough guide (eh... very rough that is!) you could crop your image by 50% and easily go to A4 - i reckon that possibly you could push it further cropping more.

For a more scientific approach, divide the pixel height and width of the cropped image by 300 (approx) to get a *perfect* print of inch measurements i.e. 6x4 print = 1800 x 1200 pixels. Some people will dispute the 300 value - I've heard 360 mentioned but it won't make too much difference, easier to calculate in your head too!!

eeek... I've just thought that you may have already known all of the above. Apologies if I'm overstating the obvious.
