what would pick between {zeiss, meopta, khales, s&b.} either fixed or mag, for foxs & rabbits. any advice.

Of those I reckon Zeiss are good

Just make sure to have a look through them first.
On some scopes the Crosshairs appear to get much bigger as you zoom in.

It depends on which focal plane is in use , but it can make fine accuracy more difficult to achieve.

What type of firearm are you planning to put it on and what distances are you expecting to shoot at ?

I have a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 with Z-plex crosshairs. They stay constant through the magnification range and the clarity and lightgathering is very good as well. One of the local lads here has a Kahles which is even significantly better than the Zeiss Conquest but comes at a higher price. As far as Meopta goes, don't know nothing about them but they seem to have the right pedigree. Schmidt and Bender is supposed to be very good as well but I don't have any experience with them.
