Dismissed from Work

    I was dismissed from my job yesterday. Due to breaking company code of conduct.

    I would appreciate if anybody can suggest a solicitor. (I need to go over the terms of dismissal as there is a lot of legal jargon that I cant quiet get my head around in the orignal employment contract)

    If anybody can suggest a solicitor or how to find a solicitor that deals in this area, it would be greatly appreciated.

    I dont know myself, maybe someone can recommend someone here, but i would suggest checking online or searching through Golden pages

    OP - You don't say what area you are in. No point someone recommending a solicitor in Bandon if you are based in Killybegs.

    I would think this is a lunatic thing to do. You should approach a solicitor on the basis of personal recommendation only. Reputation is everything and an incompetent solicitor could land you with a large bill and not solve your problem. There are a number of Dublin solicitors who deal in employment matters.

    How long have you been employed by the employer who dismissed you? If it less than 365 days, there is little you can do (except in very exceptional circumstances).

    I find that if you signed anything in relation to the codes of conduct chasing it won't be worth your while. Did you sign anything or get to read anything? I had an employer attempt to fire me on the same basis over a peresonal phone call but i'd never even been asked to sign a contract, or anything for that matter,I wasn't told about conduct or given anything to read...nor could they prove I had...so I fought it out.

    Also if you're in Kilkenny or Westport I can recommend excellent solicitors...could also get some good names in Cork.
