Cabinet Scraper

    Just wondering how do you properly sharpen a cabinet scraper? I have one and dont know how to sharpen one properly.. I have water diamond stones as well to sharpen it on.. All advice is appreciated

    Down to your local scrapyard and get yourself a valve from a truck engine, you now have a cheap burnisher. Flatten the edges of scraper on a stone and the put the scraper in a vice. Run the stem of your truck valve away from you along the edge of the scraper, this creates a burr. Remove scraper from vice , place on stock and pull towards you.Result : a nice smooth surface that you don't have to sand. I use them a lot for refinishing ...they are great for getting rid of old varnish finish.
