I think a €5,000 one would be cheaper.;)

Yep cheapest cars are never the cheapest!! But as a project it looks good.

The beauty (from the seller's viewpoint) of a bad starter motor is that it makes everything else impossible to check.

Bring a starter, FFS Its listed as a Daimler!

That's because the trader's too cheap to pay carzone €30 for a new ad. Do you have a W126 starter motor just lying around?;)

Is that why misleading listing happens? If so stay clear. Cheapbuggers.

I would be very sceptical of a €500 W126, though it does look good !

Whats all that about "Irish plates" ?

Surely the VRT alone would be €500 ?

The UK 'E' plate makes it an 87/88 Mercedes.

It sounds too cheap if it is actually on Irish plates - must be something wrong with it, even apart from the starter.

...on the other hand I don't know anyone who'd be prepared to pay the 1k+ road tax on a 20 year old Mercedes.

I suppose if it was really fooked, you could make a decent set of furniture out of those seats, with matching V6 coffee table. Or live in it.

Either way it sounds dodgy as the bejesus. Like all the ads you see on eBay - "I haven't tried to start it"... Why the hell not if you're trying to sell it?

So I just rang the seller there today and he has got a load of calls all of a sudden so this thread seems to be getting a lot of people interested, even I'll bet those that are saying it has to be dodgy are ringing up about it
For €500 it has to be worth it just for parts, even if the engine/ gearbox is foooked.
Car in photo is not the actual car, but its a 1990 Cork reg in reality same colour. If I was anywhere near Carlow I would go to take a look but it would have to be towed away.
Worth it for the right person I would say........
