It's not for "the man in the street". it is an hobbyist solution. You won't have the Sky program guide, automatic channel tuning, BBC / Sky etc interactive text, Interactive video menus during special features etc.

Unless it's a dual tuner + Hard disk + ethernet to stream elsewhere in house etc, better to stick with a Sky Digibox.

It will however also work with a real UK FTV (Freesat-from-sky) card.

Worth a try. And you wont get caught for Customs as it is shipped from their UK warehouse. You will get delivery within a week as compared with a month from China.

Probably better off here,to be honest.. http://www.satboxes.com/shop/index.php?act=viewCat&catId=3

It's local, fab delivery, and great back up service if needed.

Because of the title of this Thread,,it will be locked as the one further down the line here.

i agree Satboxes is the man for dm's in Ireland...

But stay clear of Dreamboxes if your thinking its going to be an easy box!

You have to do a lot of reading before you can go anywhere near it!...

    I speak from experience!

Fabulous box once correctly set up though

http://www.satboxes.com/shop/index.php?act=viewCat&catId=3 Stay away from that guy. Most of his dreamboxes are clones,i dont think he has any genuine boxes.I have a genuine dreambox which iam very happy with but it had a software problem back in June which i could not fix myself. satboxes.com offered to call out and fix the problem.Firstly it took three weeks for him to call, when he finally did call out all he did was mess around with the menus for an hour. For that he charged 30euro telling me some of the issues were fixed but he couldnt fix all the problems because it was a genuine box and he was only framiliar with the clone version. While he was with me his phone was constantly ringing and i felt he spent more time on phone calls then dealing with my problem. He dashed off with the money saying he was in a hurry and without showing me what he had done. But that was my fault for paying without checking the box (he couldnt have shown me anyway because he did noting).Zintek in Tallaght sell genuine dreamboxes but they are not cheap.I since had to bring my box to Zintek who were very helpful in fixing it. My advice stay well away from satboxes.com.

    I totally disagree....

The guy offers a fab service...He has done so for Me,and quite a few of My friends also..Never ever had even the slightest bit of bother.

Sadly though, you do seem to have had a bit of a bad expereince.

And,,taking into account, about 99% of Dreamboxes these days are clones,,there's nothing new there. Most people in the "know" know that.

I agree, have dealt with satboxes several times, and as have all my mates..

As said most dm's are clones these days!

Never had any trouble with clones, and I wouldn't fork out the big money for a genuine!...

You need to know how to deal with a dreambox/vu/etc when getting one yourself...

Fair enough lads two of you have had a good experience with him so far,and that is not a bad thing.Like with any business a percentage of customers will be happy. It is not hard to mess up puting a stamp on a parcel and bringing it to the post office.I just question when something goes wrong how much will he charge to put it right or does he even know how to put it right.alan18 stay away from satboxes.com. alan18 to give you my opinion on the dream box, they can be made to work with SKY and they can do a lot more besides. But if you are new to satellite and are not well up on transferring software and programming the box to do the things you want this might be jumping in at the deep end for you.I have a DM8000 hd and iam very happy with it,but if the box stops or when there is a sw upgrade then iam stumped. This is only a personal thing because iam not very competent with computers, and to lazy for googling the english version of the problem.
