Ricky Hatton is a great example lets face it he was never gonna beat Mayweather.I wonder who is gonna be next probably Junior Witter or Clinton Woods if they manage to beat a half decent fighter.

Witter has D-Hop up next(who he will beat) and Woods has Tarver next(who he will probably beat) but I don't think either will get a bandwagon going .

Watch David Haye pick up a massive following if he ko's Enzo Maccarrinelli before his move up to Heavyweight .

Do I jump on them ? , no . But I had been following Hatton since 2000 , and he was one of the fighters that really got me into the sport . I don't count that as being part of the bandwagon as people normally need one specific fighter to get them interested in the sport(which would be McGuigan or Tyson for many) .

Hindsight is always fantastic , but more people(worldwide) gave Hatton a chance against Mayweather than Tszyu . Had Tszyu took Hatton out in two rounds with a straight right(which considering Tszyu's power is not beyond the realms of possibility) then you could easily be saying 'lets face it Hatton was never gonna beat Tszyu' .

    That was my era!!

Most Boxing fans like Hatton because he's a talented boxer and a great guy-I've been following hatton since his 1st televised fight and he got my Girl interested in pro boxing because he's entertaining and puts on a good show!

I predicted that mayweather would dominate hatton but that does not mean that i jumped off the hatton bandwagon! if it does im jumping back on, also if any of the above named fighters do well people will get interested because its always better to watch boxers that you see regularly and know..

Me too, my whole family would stay up to watch Tyson and mcguigan, and this was when i used to be sent to bed at 6 o'clock.. i'll be interested in the british boxers but like said before-if you know the fighters its always more interesting, same goes for all sports, ever watch football and not now the players-BORING!!!

I'm constantly surprised by all this nonsense surrounding jumping on bandwagons.

Of course I jump on bandwagons. Sport is boring otherwise unless a very limited amout of people or teams are involved. I am firmly on the Calzaghe and Hatton bandwagons and I would much prefer that than sitting on the sidelines scoffing at people who support the popular choice. We usually know those fighters better than guys from the States or wherever so of course we can identify with them more readily. Oh and I am also on the Sunderland and even the Newcastle (Keegan:D) bandwagons too!

I definitely am not a bandwagon supporter.
Every once in a while a fighter with
star quality comes along. Barry was the
example here in Ireland and because he was so
personable and interesting, he was adored
in Britain too and it was Barry who
reignited the dying flame that British
boxing was watching. He's the primary reason for
the mass interest in the sport in Britain in the 80's.

Hatton like Barry had appeal and was well liked and was
backing it up with real tough gutsy wins and a real down
to earth attitude. He did extremely well and is still
one of the sports best 140lbers.

I just seriously over estimated his ability at welter and his
    skills to beat PBF....

The next real star and quality act IMO is Khan.
I have followed him since Athens 2004. He has proved
his class to date and if his chin holds up and he proves
he has real championship stamina, I can see him
    becoming a true legend...

Amir Khan looks like a top boxing talent and could prove to be a multiple weight divison champion

The true great prospect out there is Yuriorkis Gamboa , I've been following since his pro debut and have been hugely impressed .

In his 7th fight he stopped Adailton De Jesus , I man who had just lost a very close fight in a World title eliminator in the other guys backyard(Panama) .

He is likely to fight for a World title in the latter part of this year , that's despite it being only his second year as a pro .

Amir Khan has too many question marks over his chin to be considered a great prospect yet .

theres always going to be bandwagon jumpers, they'll all be gone if hatton has another poor performance if they haven't already.(at least that only one ricky hatton song will be gone but it's staying unfortunately :) )

Going a bit off topic here but the same can be said about football how many supporters would Man u have if they got relegated next year.

Hopfully Andy lee lives up to the hype and all of ireland can jump on the bandwagon :D

Cheers Big Ears (sorry, couldn't resist)

Hard to believe that was only his 7th fight, you're right - he doesn't look far away from World Level.

The next 3 months(and 3 opponents) of Gamboa's career have been mapped out and I have to say it is impressive .

Toledo isn't up to much but Edwards is decent and Rojas is genuine world title challenger material .

At this pace it won't be long before Gamboa is mandatory for WBA champ Chris John and that would be a very very interesting fight . John is probably the best Super-Featherweight(even better than Linares) and has a(controversial) win over Juan Manuel Marquez .

I am not a bandwagon jump - but possibly it could be argued that I am an "early adopter" with regards some fighter.

I do support British boxers and have no problem with that, however I support Irish ones more. We get better coverage of small hall British boxing on TV so its easier to follow "up and coming" boxers

Gamboa marches on , in 6 weeks time he'll be fighting 4 time World title challenger and WBA #3 ranked contender Jose Rojas .

Edwards was ranked #13 by the WBA , with Gamboa at #5 before the fight .
