    Hi,
I've set up a new company. Accountant advised that I get Sage.
    Somebody else said quickbooks.

I looked into both. Called Sage - they seem to have a very good sales team - not sure about support!

Called the Quickbooks resellers in Ireland - not as good at sales.

Anyway, suppose what Im getting at is what is better?

There is a big difference in price - almost €600 extra for Sage 50 on comparison with Quickbooks Pro 2008.

Sage is better. Get a price for Sage commercial, it's compatable with what your accountant is using and it's cheaper.

What did they quote you for Sage 50?

Have a look at TAS as well www.tassoftware.ie

All depends what type of business you have and what information you require and how much work you/your company will be entering into the system.

Will you be just doing the bookkeeping i.e. invoicing , ap , cash managament or will you require monthly management accounts , business anlaysis.

Bought both Sage Instant and quickbook when we started the business,
ditched both after less than one year, as an non accountant they where hard to use and get the feel of.

Went this TAS1(option to upgrade to TAS2 when we need it) and Collsoft for payroll much easier and user friendly to navigate and I have back dated all lasts years accounts with no problems.

Cheaper options aswell €120 collsoft and €200 for tas

    Hi,

I would certainly recommend Quickbooks before Sage. Sage is not very user friendly, and it can be very difficult to make any changes or ammendments - even with experience. Also, in my experience their support is not the best. I don't know what Quickbooks support is like, but it is very user friendly and the help section is quite easy to follow.

TAS is also much more user friendly than Sage.

Another one that it may be worth taking a look at is 'Sort my Books'. It has been developed by an Irish company for the Irish market. Also, I have been told that it is very easy to use, even for people with no accounting experience. (I think it is very reasonably priced too!!)

    Hope this helps!
