It would be nice if one could choose the channels they wanted.

Most people in reality watch less than 10 channels*. It would expose 400+ channel platforms as frauds.

Also I think if a channel is pay TV it should have no ads. And if it has ads it should be free.

It was a technology issue in the early days of Analogue Cable & Satellite, but all Digital systems can quite easily have a la carte channel ordering. On Cable or Satellite with phone line you should even be able to edit your channel list on screen rather that ring up or use a web site.

*Of course not everyone wants the same 10 channels. But the majority of channels would not be picked at all if you had to pay for them. Or Channels would end up at different pricing.
(10 Euro for premium channels and 10c for rubbish ones :) )

Pay channel should have no ads... totally agree. But those muppets in RTE put ads even in the middle of the news!
I wonder how many people would actually watch RTE if they had a choice.

Boxer will be the cure for all that. you will be able to pick and choose your channels seemingly...

All 2 to 10 of them...

RTE even put news in middle of Feature Film and don't have it listed on Aertel. Ruins a film.

    I would and do.

That is the main reason why I don't watch movies on RTÉ, BBC or ITV. All of them were guilty of it at one stage.

You do realise people do have a choice, they don't actually have to watch RTE.
Pay channel should have no ads

You really only pay for the pay channels transmission costs. UPC and other cable companies don't pay very much to many of these so called pay TV companies. UPC don't pay for Channel 6 or Buzz TV.

The likes of the Sky and Setanta channels shouldn't show adds. I don't know why there isn't a British version of HBO.
