Anyone ever approached on Flickr about images for Stock? I got a mail today listing a number of shots that a company wanted to know if I "would consider placing these on the market" hehe, the jargon!

Any stock stuff I have done has always been through a private marketing company, and to order, not sure about people requesting shots from Flickr though - any thoughts?

If its a valid stock company then why not.

Publish their name and see if anyone has used them before??

I have been twice, but I wasn't particularly interested so I politely declined. There's just not enough money in stock photography these days unless you shoot a huge volume of subjects.

Thanks guys, appreciate the helpful replies as opposed to pointless ones aimed to mock and annoy.

I mailed the guy back, will update when I hear.

@Al, added to the old thread as the topic was the same, just with a different source - that is the point of search afterall. No probs that you moved it, cheers, pity about others, no call for remarks on my posting in that thread in the first place.

Tbh, it wasn't the same topic, and it was a few months old!

Stock photography is the same topic, and the age of the thread isnt really relevant, thats what the search function is there for, to stop repeat duplicate threads.

The other thread was about companies for stock photography, yours is about people approaching you on Flickr asking to use some of your photos as stock. I see those points as being different. Related yes, but more like cousins are than brother and sister.

    It's a different topic.

If you want to discuss it further, PM me, or go to the feedback forum.

@Al, im not objecting to your moving, I simply pointed out that the smart remarks of others were uncalled for. Im not making the issue here.

I was approached by one a while back, and a bit of searching indicated that loads of other people were approached by the same lot. The conditions weren't very exciting TBH, but let us know how you fare

Thats the problem with stock and as already mentioned above. Its worth it if you have tons of images available to get a decent (or any) income.
