I know this may seem "gay" or whatever but I was going somewhere the other day and thinking of the practicalities. I had my pockets full of keys, wallet, mobile phone, ipod, paper work I needed for the bank. I know I for one if it was the done thing would carry some sort of male bag.

They're huge in Hong Kong. That doesn't mean they don't look gay but those fellas get away with it...

Get yourself an over the shoulder satchel. Stylish and practical.

Man bag is the way to go. Looks very gay, but incredibly handy.

I don't care what you have just don't let me see you wearing a bum bag! I just dump everything into my laptop bag.

They're gay. No question. Which is fine if you are gay of course.

Can I suggest large Top Hats, or Codpieces as viable, discreet and manly storage alternatives. If that's not your thing, there are also wonderful things called pockets which I hear have been popular for some time. Briefcases are allowed too. I myself use a purpose built mobile storage device which does a great job. Mr. Tesco's highly visible designer label on it always gets attention at social events too.

I've got a 'carryall' that I got as a present. Don't really use it all that much, but it came in very handy for throwing in a few DVDs and heading up to a friend's place. So I say go for it, I guess.

Whats wrong with a car? They hold massive amounts of stuff and keep the rain off too, much more practical than a bag ;)

use my man bag most days, could be holding the paper, lunch, mobile, mp3, etc, find it very handy, not gay at all

Ah yes, the "bum bag". One of the many ways to spot an American tourist around the world.

Also, itt ******s who are scared to have man-bag's.

Jack Bauer could have sex with a man and it wouldn't be considered gay.

Jack Bauer is exempt from teh ghey.

Combat pants are my best friend! 4 pockets each divided to a specific department.

    A. Phone
    B. Wallet
    C. Fags & Lighter
    D. Keys

Other than that I normally have a backpack which is handy for carrying me lappytop & external hard drive.

Knocking around 90% of the time I just use my pockets. Usually only have phone, wallet, keys. Maybe the odd time a usb key or something.

If I need to carry anything larger or a good few things I use a backpack. I bring one into college everyday as well. It kinda necessary when your biking it

The only shoulder type bad any man should be carrying is a DJ 's Record Bag

Get one that looks like a briefcase or laptop case:
    1) you won't look 'gh3y'
    2) you won't have to call it a manbag.

Also there's "manbags" and then there's "bags for men". The two should never be confused.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,183 ✭✭✭Peared

Yeah a record bag is yer only man, even if it never comes within an asses roar of an actual record. It seems to be acceptable and runs less risk of people accusing you of catching teh gay.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,555 ✭✭✭✭AckwelFoley

    Very gay.

    In every way.

    I carry one Manbag.

    It holds my rocks.

a manbag is grand as long as you have something manly in it . like a hammer.

A would not refer to a male person who carries a hand bag as a man.

I always just use a rucksack when I need to carry things round, primarily because I've never thought about getting anything more "stylish".

I don't see the gay connection with a shoulder bag though, and the concept of a "manbag" as opposed to a "bag for a man" is way over my head.

    *shrug
