Course Advice

I've been looking into doing an accredited course, purely for something to do. My job isn't stimulating my mind right now. With working though it would have to be part-time/night course. The only course I can find here in Ireland is the (BA) in Photographic Media in Griffith College. It's 4 nights a week for 3 years so its pretty intense. I can't say how good the course is itself but I know one of the tutors so I've emailed her to ask what it is really like and worth the money (its €3900 per year! but I think my job will pay 50% of the fees, fingers crossed, and its tax deductable too).

The distance learning thing seems a bit dubious to me. I get the impression they email assignments, you do them with no real interaction with anyone. The biggest thing with courses such as art or photography is the interaction you get from other people in your class and the distance learning thing wouldn't have that. I'd also want to be sure its accredited before haning over any cash!

I'm currently dong the city & guilds level 2 course in WIT it's been running since late September our first module is sue this monday 28th Jan. It's a good course there's about 20 of us in the class. lots of questions asked, some I never would have thought of. They incourage us to ask questions and if someone else in the class has the answer or a sugestion that's great as well.

there's a rumour at the moment that C&G's are changing level 3 to make it more like a diploma or degree. But I'll wait and see.

Feel free to ask me any questions.

Firstly thxs to both of you for replying.
Very good point about the distance learning and lack of interaction. The problem being is I'm based in Cork and there are not that many courses around! I'll have another look - thxs again folks.
