    Hi,

I know this might be for the wireless or broadband forum but I don't think so. I keep dropping off the internet connection. Pages I know should load won't and the most frustrating think is that either of my browsers, safari and firefox won't even try to reload. When i click it to they don't try and show won't load page text. My flatmate has a macbook pro and has no problems. grrrrrrrrr

Has anyone any advice, please help me.

    Thank you.

What version of OS X are you running?

There appears to be issues with leopard dropping wireless connection at the moment. There was an article about it on Gizmodo.com recently. 10.5.2 is due soon though so hopefullt that will fix it.

Use a download manager like iGetter or Speed Download. Safari can't be trusted with big downloads at the best of times.

do you know of any free versions of programs like these.

i'm using speed download at the moment which is great but i couldn't justify paying for it considering there are so many programs like it on windows that are free, it just seems they are like exploiting the fact there isn't anyone in competition with them.

I haven't used it in a while but afaik iGetter is shareware, so there's no limit on how long you use it, just an annoying pop-up when launched. I don't know of any decent free ones I'm afraid.

I mean large files now, 1GB+. But perhaps it's better now. I had several bad experiences with earlier versions and still don't trust it—for stability reasons if nothing else. Does it reliably resume broken downloads now? I always had a problem with it screwing up big files and having to download it all over again, or it would crash and forget. All browsers are kind of the same though tbh.

my experience has been that the broweser is stable when Airport manages not to fall asleep at the wheel so to speak.
