ha.. i'm a huge music fan, most genres, but i have to say, one of my all time favourite bands are incubus. saw a gig they did on their crow left of the murder tour back in 2004(ish), and saw them again with their current tour last december. so i've seen them. and both occasions were pretty amazing. but... they're coming to new zealand next month.

and... well, im currently contemplating going to see them. which is not good. it's gonna cost me $72 for the gig itself. coupled with the fact im living on the south island, and the gig is on the north island. which is... well, about $160 in return flights. not to mention accommodation.

aaaaaaaaand, im kinda on the broke side of things in life right now. am i absolutely insane to be seriously contemplating spending this kinda money on a band i've seen twice already?

Of course you should go if you think its gonna be amazing. I'm sure I've spent way more travelling to see bands. One amazing gig is defintiely worth the price of a festival I think.

You can earn more money, you might not see Incubus again!

Unless of course that money is neccessary for a life saving operation for your granny or something.

ha, i was drunk last night, and having this big in-depth conversation iwth the boyfriend about everything from religion, to general life philosophies, and realised that yes, i only live once, yes music is my passion, and **** it, the money will be useless to me in the grave.

so i think i'll be booking it pretty soon now, ha, and mr. s, i was always a music junkie, i've just been unemployed since september, and i used to live beside dublin, so seeing a band i loved was only evergoing to cost gig tickets plus a bus in and out.

ha, i am insane, but sure **** it... \m/ :D

    Insane? Why?
Who says you only have to see a band twice in your life?
If you like the band as much as you say...go for it. Especially in a different country...different crowd, different set, different atmosphere...well worth it!

no, go to the gig, become broke and then in the future you can tell the grandkids that you were actually cool one day. seriously, live life, thats what its there for.

i own nothing worth selling,a nd i refuse out of principle to spend $200 for the gig ticket alone, without factoring in return flights nad accommodation.

when i was in final year in college (2005) me and a house mate were quite madly into SOAD and seen as they werent gonna come to ireland we launched a plan to go see them in London.
So basically we sourced the tickets (Paid for on my credit card) and as we couldnt go to london on the plane (couldnt afford it!) we got the BUS from SLIGO to LONDON! 50 euro return!! something like 18hours each way on the bus and a nite in hostel.
Paid the credit card off 3months later when my mate got a job.

Was it worth it? F**k yes, we seen a bad at they're peak (will never be as good again imo) and it was a great gig, a horrible experience on the bus (cramped/boredom/exhaustion!) but it will be something we'll remember forever and will be able to tell people* about for years to come.

*by people i obviously mean strangers who want to go to incubus :p

well, they're only on hiatus now, and i am sooooooo jealous, i have wanted to see system for so long... BYOB, in a series of linked and chain reaction events... is the reason i ended up packing up my **** and moving to nz. i would love to see it live just for that reason alone! that is an awesome story though gucci, and much respect to you.

but i think i've accepted that im gonna have to give inkybiss a miss this time. i *have* already seen them twice... tickets are sold out, and, though i intend searching to try find some independent ticket retailers (like the Sound Cellar at home), i'm not holding out too much hope. :(

gig was in brixton academy in london and it was insanely brilliant. I know theyre only on hiatus at the moment, but in my opinion i dont think they can reach the highs they were at around that time.
The two of us are heading over to london in 2weeks to smashing pumpkins in o2 arena, but were flying and were not as broke this time and staying in a mates house....bet it wont be half as good :p

btw i seen incubus during the summer in belgium, they were pretty good, not a wonderful performance to be honest *ducks for cover*

did they do the redefine remix? i'd see them again just for that. that plus, last time i saw them, twas all seated, which kinda ruined the buzz for me a bit. they are just one of my all time faves, the lyrics mean more to me than i can put into words. saw pumpkins in rock am, pretty good, though left partially through to check out slayer. so disappointed i can't do rock am this year, line up looks amazing... plus... rage! *sob*

    enjoy your gigs dude!
