    Hey all,

I've got this 3 year old HP ZD7000 laptop, it works fine, just screen is... errh it looks like that:
    screen.jpg

I'm wondering if there's a point to fix it? I'm afraid it might cost more than all the laptop itself. I'm not using my laptop anymore, I've built this top spec pc recently, enjoying its speed here and that laptop is just sitting there and collecting the dust. So what should I do with it? Fix it? Dump it? Sell it for parts?

    Thanks!

Could also be an issue with the graphics chip, do you know is it like that from the moment you turn the laptop on? ie. When the HP Bios screen appears, does it show those lines also?

yes, they're there when I switch the laptop on.
"Dead" lines didn't appear all at once. They were coming up one by one for the last year. I was using external monitor with the laptop.

Does it still look fine on an external monitor. If it does then it sounds like the screen is fooked, if not then it's most likely the graphics card.

external monitor gives perfect views. it must the screen then. just made a search on ebay: used screen 160$, and these laptops go for ~200$ if sold for parts (broken screens).
