Bringing it back is gonna be some trouble cos no shops have the 60gig model left. If you're looking for another 60 you're going to have to wait for it to be repaired.

Controller disconnecting could be wireless interference.
Got a wireless phone home base station or wireless router near the PS3? Also certain Motorola bluetooth headsets can cause issues.

The internet freezing thing. Do you have the information board enables. Its the orange circle thingy in the top right of screen. Disable this is its a useless, buggy piece of crap and can cause freezing and other issues.

I noticed this piece of software with the latest firmware, originally thinking it was a normal rss reader I thought cool, but you cant put in your own addresses, bit of a cheeky thing to turn on by default.

What does it look like when it freezes? Is the swirly thing in the top-right of the screen still moving, do you have any control?

Interms just of network/internet, cordless phone could be a culprit if it's close to either your PS3 or your router. More likely to cause a bad signal or network dropout rather than a freeze-up I think but I guess it depends on how the PS3 reacts to that. Might be worth having a look at your network connection settings to see of all is as expected (ie network found, internet found, NAT=1 or 2, uPnP=enabled etc).

The freeze up is worrying, since network probs should really just result in your connection dropping.
