Renault Scenic question

The Missus has a 1999 Renault Scenic which has been very reliable over the past 5 years. I have being driving it for the past few days & noticed the display in the middle of the dash which shows the clock & radio station was going faint & back to normal every few minutes. At lunchtime today, the display had gone completely & the volume buttons for the radio on the steering column no longer work but the buttons on the radio work perfectly. Anyone come across this before & is it an easy fix. Hope its not main dealer stuff

    Thanks,

    Tim

hmm..could be just a loose connection.. For that you can sort yourself if you can figure out how to get at it.

If something is about to go however, its an integrated unit on the scenic so that would be dealer specific. If you got a different stereo you would need a faceplace cover thing to make it fit and not look terrible.
