    (and I know this won't help your situation much)

    In case anyone was wondering, the new mac version of the flickr uploadr is even better than the old version. It truly is a beautiful piece of software.

    In the interests of bug testing, I'll download the windows version in a minute and see if I can make it stall..

    Right.. mine crapped out after not even doing 1 photo with a helpful "Heuston we have a problem" error. It's blaming my internet connection but I doubt thats the problem as it's a 30mbit fibre connection. Only oddity I can think of is that it's pulling the photos from a local NAS so maybe that's causing a timeout...

    ah so its not me :D

    nope.. definately not. Just trying another upload of a 77mb batch of photos now. each one is approx 4/5mb. It's incredibly slow to draw thumbnails when bringing the photos into uploadr and it's uploading incredibly slowly.

    Maybe heavy traffic or other network problems with flickr uploads at the moment?

    try uploading 2 similar sized batches at same time.. one from windows and one from mac

    dont use the thing myself

    Does it actually support proxies yet ? I downloaded it originally to try in work and gave up in disgust when I realised there was nowhere to specifiy a proxy server. For something thats meant to be a piece of professionally produced software (and not an overly complicated one either) to connect to a server and upload something, thats a pretty astonishing omission.

    doesnt look like it supports any kind of proxying at all.

    It's the biggest POS if you ask me. I've gone back to the earlier version.

    Ahum, looks like I should have done a modicum of investigation instead of just uninstalling the thing in disgust ...
    I followed the instructions from 'myfear' and it worked great:

    1. Edit Uploader prefs file. Typically, you’ll find it in:
    C:\Programm Files\Flickr Uploadr\defaults\preferences\prefs.js

    2. Add the following lines to this file:

    pref('network.proxy.http', 'your.proxy.org');
    pref('network.proxy.http_port', 1234);
    pref('network.proxy.type', 1);

    Where you fill in the needed values for your proxy server and port (printed in bold) Do not (!) use a protocoll for the proxy ... simply the host name!

    from the forum help thread

    Really though, having to track down a configuration file and manually enter the values is pretty poor form.

    Or just use JUploader, works grand for me, miles better than the original flickr uploader (for windows at least), doesn't have the rakes of bugs that seem to plague the new uploader.

    for some reason I can't use it in work so I switch back to the old uploader but when at home I have no problem using it.

    For those of you who use it, Windows Live Photo Gallery Beta can upload to flickr too...

    Still on the older uploader on this (windoze) laptop, but have both versions on my vista desktop.

    If I use it, it'll work for three to six photos, and won't work again until restart. Also won't let me use any ftps until restart. That's probably more vista than the uploader though...

    Back to version two, because I haven't found the button "Upload" in the newest version.
